The selection of music for the funeral of a loved one is a sacred task. In choosing music, we choose the words the assembly sings and prays. The music in the Catholic liturgy is a vessel by which the assembly resonates in prayer and faith in one united voice. 

Please select 4-5 songs and a responsorial psalm from the table below. Through the table, you can view the music/lyrics as well as listen to recordings. The songs marked with a green check mark are found in our parish hymnals. As this is often a very difficult time for families, you may also elect to leave the song choices to the discretion of the music minister.

The following list is by no means exhaustive. Almost anything from the canon of Catholic hymnals is available. Most sacred or spiritual repertoire can also be accommodated. Secular music is best reserved for wake services and/or receptions.

• Favorite hymns of your family and/or the deceased
• Songs pre-selected in a funeral directive
• Relation of lyrics to the scripture readings chosen
• Songs that speak to the character of the deceased
